The public sure has a fascination with Mob-related entertainment. Puzo’s The Godfather, Scorsese’s Goodfellas and even Richard Woodley’s Donnie Brasco were all bona fide hits, much like David Chase’s HBO series The Sopranos, with the drama that examines Tony Soprano’s psyche and his day-to-day running of both of his families captivating audiences for well over six seasons.
One of this season’s storylines, fittingly enough, saw Tony developing an addiction to gambling and with only one episode left you can bet—no pun intended—that the betting public and bookies are eagerly awaiting the series finale on June 10.
Sopranos “whack” props are always a big draw for books and this season has seen some notable characters sleeping with the fishes.
On again, off again substance abusing nephew twice removed, Christopher Moltisanti was “relived of his family duties” by Uncle Tony a few episodes ago, much to the joy of some chalk bettors. Chrissy was one of the favorites to join Big Pussy, Richie and Ralphie at +600.
Soprano sibling Janice was listed at 29-1 prior to the final episodes and while she has survived so far, the same cannot be said of her husband Bobby Bacala, who got the Sonny Corleone treatment in a hobby store in this past week’s episode.
One long shot bet was looking awfully close to paying off in the second to last episode. Soprano Consigliere Silvio Dante’s life hangs by a thread after a hit by Philly Leotardo’s crew. Sil is in a coma, the doctors don’t think he’ll pull through and if he does pass away, that will payout at 52-1. If you think he'll regain consciousness put down some coin at -120.
Heading into the finale, no one is safe and speculation remains rampant about who will make the cut and who won’t.

Tony (+125) and his crew are bunkered down in a safe house while his wife Carmella (+1600) and kids A.J. (+550) and Meadow (+1100) are also in hiding; Uncle Junior—who was one of the odds on bets (+250) to be the first casualty—remains alive and broke and Paulie Walnuts (+140), who came oh-so-close to biting it a few episodes back, remains holed up with Tony.
Will even Dr. Melfi (+700)—who dropped Tony as a patient due to a little peer pressure—avoid the reach of the Grim Reaper?
Will Phil Leotardo, who initiated the attacks on Soprano’s crew and is in hiding, get what’s coming (-160)? It would be a fitting end to one of Tony’s major antagonists.
As the countdown ticks down to the Sopranos’ final episode on June 10, you can be sure that more prop bets will pop up.
Another interesting theory that has been circulating, is a feature film with the possibility of a Sopranos movie by January 1 of 2008 being listed at -180.
Will the final episode tie up all the loose ends or will it be a cliffhanger? T-Minus one week and counting.
