If you’re a reader of the tabloids, and unfortunately even if you’re not, you’ve no doubt heard the name Paris Hilton.

The socialite first gained notoriety with a sex tape a few years ago and attached herself to the North American consciousness and refused to let go with ensuing Reality Shows, CDs and movie appearances.

Last September, Hilton was charged with driving under the influence, a charge she pled “no contest” to. She was placed on probation for three years, fined and had her driver’s license suspended among other things.

In March 2007, she violated terms of her probation when she was not only caught driving, but over the speed limit (70 mph in a 35 mph zone) and with the headlights off as well. Compounding that was the fact that she also failed to register for an alcohol education program, another term of probation. A judge subsequently sentenced her to a 45-day jail sentence, which she must report for before June 5 or risk further punishment.

Rather than accept the judgement, Hilton decried the sentence claiming it was unfair and undeserved. She even started a petition to Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger for clemency.

Outlandish behaviour aside, Hilton has earned a reputation as sort of a brat and she is not among the public’s favorite celebrities—Late Night talk show host Conan O’Brien’s announcement of the Hilton jail sentence was met with thunderous applause.

Not surprisingly, sports books have been all over this and are offering some fun prop bets.

As is usually the case when a person with a high-profile is sentenced to jail, the ruling is appealed. If you think that the hotel heiress will get her jail time reduced, or if you think that she won’t serve any time at all, Bodog is offering a “total number of nights in jail” bet with over 1½ nights listed at -150 and under 1½ nights listed at +110.

Do you think a silver spoon fed Hilton will get her clock cleaned whilst in the slammer? You might want to consider laying a small amount down as the bet will payout at +700.

If you think Schwarzenegger will grant her a reprieve, the odds are +425, if you have a grip on reality and think that the Governor will deny her, the odds are not in your favor as they are listed at -800.

BetUS is also offering a share of humorous props. If you think that Paris Hilton will announce that her stint in jail is “hot” (her catchphrase) the odds are +500. Something tells me the odds should be a lot higher.
