Fantasy Sports Not Illegal Says Jersey Judge

The suits at ESPN are breathing a sigh of relief after a judge in Newark, N.J. judge threw out lawsuit claiming that fantasy sports were a form of illegal gambling.

Colorado attorney Charles Humphrey Jr. claimed that fantasy sports were games of chance funded by entrants, since the prize pool is taken from entry fees—this according to a 200-year old New Jersey law that allows the public to sue for a portion illegal gambling proceeds.

ESPN attorneys and the judge disagreed.
